Reflecting on 2024 – A Year of Challenges, Growth, and Gratitude
As the year draws to a close, I’ve been reflecting on what has undoubtedly been a tough but rewarding year for my small jewellery business. With rising costs of living impacting so many, it’s no surprise that this year brought financial challenges—turnover was significantly lower, and profits dropped by 29% compared to 2023. Yet, despite these hurdles, 2024 has been filled with moments of joy, growth, and celebration.
Here are some highlights that I’m so proud to share:
20 Years in the Jewellery Industry
This year marked two decades of doing what I love—creating timeless, handcrafted jewellery. Reflecting on 2024 and this milestone reminds me of the journey I’ve taken, the incredible people I’ve met, and the creativity that keeps me inspired every single day.
In the Spotlight
I was thrilled to have my work featured in some amazing magazines this year, including The Kent Review, Your Kent Wedding, Inside Kent, and The Sevenoaks Signal. And a personal highlight? My very first radio interview with Dom King on BBC Radio Kent!
Wedding Magic
I had the pleasure of participating in beautiful wedding fairs like Penshurst Place Wedding Fair, Lake House Spiritual Wedding Fair, and The Rustic Wedding Fair. Meeting so many wonderful couples and helping them create bespoke wedding rings remains a true joy.
Awards and Recognition
I was honored to be a Finalist for the Guides for Brides Customer Service Awards and to receive the Highly Commended Wedding Jeweller recognition from the English Wedding Awards. These accolades mean the world to me—they reflect the trust and love from my amazing customers.
Workshops and Sustainability
2024 saw the revitalization of my Silver Jewellery Workshops, which have been such a rewarding way to share my craft. I also completed my Carbon Literacy Training and deepened my commitment to sustainability by connecting with inspiring suppliers through the Sustainable Wedding Alliance.
Exciting Collaborations
This year, I joined forces with the talented team at Union of Art + Scent, offering unique wedding experiences that combine jewellery and fragrance—a truly special way for couples to celebrate their love stories.
Community Connections
Exhibiting at the May and November Fairs organized by the Otford Society was another highlight. These events are always so well-attended, and I’m grateful to be part of such a vibrant local community.
Special Commissions and Unique Designs
From bespoke wedding rings to one-of-a-kind jewellery commissions, 2024 was filled with incredible creative projects. Each piece I crafted told its own story, and I’m so grateful to my customers for trusting me to bring their visions to life.
As I close out this year, reflecting on 2024, I want to say a heartfelt thank you to all my customers—past and present. Your support has meant the world to me, and I wouldn’t be here without you.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2025.
Seasons greetings one and all!
